Ariella ~ 4th Generation Master Tailor

Ariella
Master Tailor, a rare title that only belongs to highly-skilled tailors who have apprenticed and studied the craft for years and are obsessed with achieving perfection. Very few traditional master tailors are left in the world, I’m proud to continue the family legacy. I thank my Master Tailor grandfather for sharing his knowledge during my apprenticeship which he carried through generations of European craftsmanship. To achieve the perfect fit, I design, hand draft patterns, cut and sew everything myself! All my patterns are hand drafted using traditional pattern making methods taught to me by my grandfather and his close friends which I have developed into my own signature style. I do not do any pattern making or grading in a computer program. I provide bespoke, made-to-measure tailoring services, as well as an exciting range of hand-crafted ready-to-wear clothing, accessories and homewares for adults and children. Small design runs, a healthy dose of vintage-inspiration and a hint of sub-culture. I teach and demonstrate sewing all over Australia and run classes in general sewing, garment construction, creating homewares and upcycling.

What inspired you to make this project?
I wanted to choose an activity that would inspire people to work with fabric and textiles. I chose something simple that anyone could participate in. I am a big advocate for sustainability in fashion and people should up cycle there old clothes into something usable rather than contribute to land fill.
