The Leather Surgery

Art & Design
Leather Surgery? Yes! I’ve been cutting and stitching humans in surgery for 15 years, and love to share the skills and the passion I have for applying them to leather work. Jewellery, tassels, lanyards, card holders: practical and beautiful.

Sharing characteristics with both paper and fabric, leathers are extraordinarily versatile. Available in so many varieties and colours, from bright sturdy red to soft tactile metallic, they can be made into jewellery (pendants, earrings, rings), tassels (both decorative and functional), key rings, bag charms, lanyards... I’ve been cutting and stitching humans in surgery for 15 years, and love to share the skills I’ve acquired and the passion I have for applying them to leather work. Be inspired by a multitude of ideas both beautiful and practical; even stamped with your name or initials!

What inspired you to make this project?
A discovery of the characteristics of leather. Having worked creatively with paper and fabric, and having surgical experience over 15 years, it felt like a great way to bring art, practical design, sustainability and creativity together.
